  • 250 g sorse shak / mustard leaves 
  • 2 green chilies 
  • 1/2 teaspoon black cumin seeds 
  • 1 dry red chili 
  • 3 garlic cloves 
  • salt (to taste)
  • mustard oil for cooking

How to make sorse shak:

Preparing the Ingredients

  • Wash the mustard leaves thoroughly and chop them finely.
  • Slit the green chilies lengthwise and crush the garlic cloves.

Tempering the Spices

  • Heat mustard oil in a pan and add black cumin seeds.
  • Once the seeds splutter, add the dry red chili and crushed garlic.

Cooking the Saag

  • Add the chopped mustard leaves to the pan and sauté until wilted.
  • Season with salt and turmeric, cook until the flavors meld together.

Ingredients

  • 250 g sorse shak / mustard leaves (chopped)

  • 2 green chilies

  • 1/2 teaspoon black cumin seeds

  • 1 dry red chili

  • 3 garlic cloves (crushed)

  • Salt to taste

  • mustard oil for cooking

Directions

  • Heat mustard oil In a kadhai.
  • When oil starts smoking add dry red chili, garlic colves and black cumin seeds. Let them splatter for few seconds.
  • Now add chopped sorse shak. stir fry for a minute.
  • Sprinkle salt to taste and add turmeric powder. Add green chili and saute for 15 minutes on low- medium heat.
  • when sorse shak become soften turn of the gas.

Notes

  • When cooking Sorse Shak, avoid selecting overgrown leaves, as they tend to impart a bitter taste. Instead, opt for tender leaves to ensure a pleasant flavor in your dish.
  • If you prefer, you can cook the recipe without garlic, but it tastes better and has a nice aroma when it's added.
